【摘要】:TestspecimensareusedtodeterminetheengineeringpropertiesofPMmaterials,forexample,tensilestrength,ductility,impactenergy,etc.;propertydatathatareessentialtothesuccessfuluseofPMmaterialstandards.ProcessingPMtestspecimensunderproductionconditionsisthemostefficientmethodbywhichtoobtainreliablePMmaterialpropertydatasinceinmostcasesitisimpracticalorimpossibletocuttestbarsfromsinteredparts.Theperformancecharacteristicsofmetalpowders,forexample,compressibility,greenstrengthanddimensionalchangesassociatedwithprocessingareevaluatedusingPMtestspecimensundercontrolledconditions.ThedataobtainedareimportanttobothmetalpowderproducersandPMpartsmanufacturers.PMtestspecimensplayasignificantroleinindustrialqualityassuranceprograms.Theyareusedtocomparepropertiesofanewlotofmetalpowderwithanestablishedlotinanacceptancetestandareusedinthepartmanufacturingprocesstoestablishandadjustproductionvariables.InthoseinstanceswhereitisrequiredtopresentequivalentpropertydataforaproductionlotofPMparts,standardtestspecimenscompactedfromtheproductionpowdermixtothesamegreendensitycanbeprocessedwiththeproductionPMpartsandthentestedtoobtainthisinformation.MaterialpropertytestingperformedforindustrialoracademicresearchanddevelopmentprojectsusesstandardPMtestspecimenssothetestresultsobtainedcanbecomparedwithpreviousworkorpublisheddata.Powdermetallurgytestspecimensmayhavemultipleuses.Thedimensionsandtolerancesgiveninthisstandardarenominalinmanycases.Theuseriscautionedtomakecertainthatthedimensionsofthetestspecimenareinagreementwiththerequirementsofthespecifictestmethodtobeused.1.1ThesestandardpracticescoverthespecificationsforthoseuniaxiallycompactedtestspecimensthatareusedinASTMstandards,theproceduresforproducingandpreparingthesetestspecimens,andreferencetheapplicablestandards.1.2Basictooldesignandengineeringinformationregardingthetoolingthatisrequiredtocompactthetestspecimensandmachiningblanksarecontainedintheannexes.1.3Thisstandardisintendedtobeacomprehensiveone-sourcedocumentthatcanbereferencedbyASTMtestmethodsthatutilizePMtestspecimensandinASTMPMmaterialspecificationsthatcontaintheengineeringdataobtainedfromthesetestspecimens.1.4Thesepracticesarenotapplicabletometalpowdertestspecimensthatareproducedbyotherprocessessuchascoldisostaticpressing(CIP),hotisostaticpressing(HIP),powderforging(PF)ormetalinjectionmolding(MIM).Theydonotpertaintocementedcarbidematerials.1.5DetailedinformationonPMpresses,compactingtoolingandsinteringfurnaces,theirdesign,manufactureandusearenotwithinthescopeofthesepractices.1.6Testspecimenanddiecavitydimensionsshownininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandardandareapplicabletothereferencedASTMtestmethodsandmaterialspecifications.ValuesinSIunitsareshowninparenthesesandresultfromconversioninaccordancewithIEEE/ASTMStandardSI10.Theymaybeapproximateandareonlyforinformation.1.7Thisstandardmayinvolvehazardousmaterials,operations,andequipment.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
